I suffer from a severe form of generalized anxiety disorder, but also have chronic pain in the head and all along my spinal column. I take 30 mg Remeron and 2 mg clonazepam, and am wondering if I am actually getting the deep, healing sleep I need to feel well. In particular, I am wondering if the benzo interferes with my sleep architecture to such an extent that I experience pain of varying intensity every day.

Hi,
Have you tried amitriptyline. It can reduce anxiety, decrease pain and improve sleep. Side effects can be a problem though!
Regards,
Ed.

There's no problem with the antidepressant. Remeron does not apear to disrupt sleep archetecture any. Benzo's can affect certain stages of sleep but I don't know how this would influence you condition.
Ed is right in that TCA's are sometimes useful for depression/anxiety/pain syndromes.
I know that anxiety/insomnia would probably have a greater impact.Linkadge
