Provigil/ modafinil

Posted by notfeelingthebest on July 8, 2005, at 7:16:32

I have taken Dexedrine on three different occasions because I fall asleep all the time. The breaks between each period where because I was being sent the stuff from Canada and my flow kept on being disrupted by party time at the local customs office.

On the first occasion, 20 mg really did the trick if I stayed away from citrus and coffee etc.

BREAK

On the second occasion, 20 mg was less effective, and I had to really watch my stomach ph or I wouldn't absorb the stuff at all.

BREAK

On the third occasion, 30 mg was required if was to feel anything. Any kind of food whatsoever made the stuff useless, and my tolerance skyrocketed after about two days of use. I'd have to wait a week, it would sort of work for a couple of days again and then - poof.

Now I can't get that stuff anymore. Adderal is illegal in Canada now, and, well, they're all illegal where I live anyway (mind you, pDocs will give me scripts for lots of useless crap if I want; they seem to find it fun).

NEW HORIZONS:

Does anybody have anything positive/negative to say about Provigil/modafinil?

Provigil didn't work well for me I'm afraid!

It felt like Caffeine in that it made me anxious and it didn't help with motivation.
It also stopped me from sleeping at night

20mgs of Dexedrine seems like a very high starting dose (although I admittedly am very sensitive to stimulents), perhapse if you started with a low dose and went up it would work better?

Sounds about right. Anything that is declared "non-addictive" or does not cause "euphoria" is usually garbage.

Not only is the way it works unknown, but it also doesn't even work too!

Christ, I can't imagine the glory of what it would feel like to drink eleven pots of coffee. Wiggy wiggy wiggy wiggy wigg-out yeah.

Right now, with Wellbutrin XL 300mg on board, I tend to get jittery when I take it, but Provigil has been a good and loyal friend to me for about a year and a half now. No trouble sleeping, it brightens my mood -- augmenting ADs -- and really has been the best thing I've tried in ages. No real side effects -- some headaches at first -- and it does its job.

So, there's a positive report.

I didn't mean to be negative about Modafinil
A lot of people have good results
I just didn't respond well

Funnily enough I had good results with Adrafanil when I tried it, although that was a long time ago.

I had good results with Provogil 200 and 400, together with Concerta 54 until I was getting irregular heart beat, dropped Concerta to 36, now dropping Provigil too to measure bp difference.
I have a heart murmur kicking up to cause mitral regurgitation. Raising blood pressure had my doc put me through a stress test and daily bp monitoring.

It addresses daytime sleepiness, no noticeable stimulant
effect (would I notice it on top of the concerta/dexedrine?)
no euphoria, no effect on concentration.

Hi,

I'm new here.

I have been taking modafinil (100mg) for 4 weeks now. Besides that I've been taking Effexor (150mg) for years.

I used to have irresistible sleep attacks every day and if I'd take a nap it would last up to 3 hours! I was often confused, irritable, had to sleep 9-12 hours every night and had a really hard time getting out of bed.

Now it's all gone! It's enough to sleep 7-9 hours, I take no naps, have no confusion and less irritability.

However... my sex drive is gone as well, which is really annoying since I have a great boyfriend!

As anyone experienced the same with modafinil?

Provigil is not good for sex drive.

Like you, it was impossible for me to function on 7-9 hours of sleep a day. And it simply isn't feasible to sleep 12 hours a day, nor to experience the constant drowsiness and confusion (I feel drunk when the drug wears off, which is actually better than how I felt when Ritalin would wear off, which would be complete inner chaos and exhaustion). But it's a harsh drug in terms of side effects.
