I was just wondering if anyone has had their cholesterol levels checked, and if after their depression/anxiety/etc.. symptoms improved from meds their cholesterol levels improved when re-tested. Specifically, I was wondering about Total Cholesterol, HDL and LDL. Im having a comprehensive lipoprotein analysis on monday which will measure: total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, VLDL, Lipoprotein(a), and triglycerides, LDL particle size, HDL subfractions (HDL2-C and HDL3-C), and Very Low Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) subfractions (VLDL 1+2, VLDL3, and Intermediate Density Lipoprotein.
The relationship between Cholesterol and Psychiatry has been discussed for a while. And Heart disease, depression and cholesterol levels show positive correlations. My Doc thought it was a good idea seeing how Ive never had cholesterol checked. Anyone have any input?

My cholesterol is pretty stable irreguardless of the meds I'm on. It stays in the normal ranges with HDL being extremly low. All and all I guess I'm lucky as cardiac disease, strokes run in my family. Fondly, Phillipa

For some reason I thought that low cholesterol was linked to depression.

Actually, Low HDL cholesterol is really bad. You want HDL cholesterol HIGH, but LDL and TOTAL cholsterol LOW.
This is the end of the thread.
