Is this common. How long does it typically fade w/ in. I hate the derealization, hard to engage w/ reality, sometimes feels like an acid/mushroom trip.
Was put on 20mg paxil for GAD/OCD. Appetite gone, sex drive gone, anxiety worse. Fun stuff!!
I took 10mg in college for panic disorder, and it saved my life. Things were normal til about 5 yrs ago, when derealization broke through.

Very common it's all anxiety. Sometimes a bit of a benzo to get you through will really help. Many people stop because of this when relief is right around the corner. I know I had a hard time. It took me many tries.

I'm not conviced they ever help anxiety. Especially if you have been on benzos for many many years. Love Phillipa

The increased anxiety doesn't often last more than a couple of weeks - but may reappear if the dose is increased too rapidly.

Hope it goes away. don't know why she insisted upon going to 20mgs paxil so fast. Took 10mgs for 2 days, was fine, felt good, then went to 20. Compalined to her about dereailzation (didn't believe me), horrible stomach problems. Said i could only go down for 3 days but then had to go back up. I didn't go back down.
She doesn't think that for bad obsessions/GAD that i have, that i need to get to higher doses of paxil asap.

Why didn't you go down on paxil? Maybe that's the reason for what's going on without the trileptal. Just a thought. Love Phillipa

I thought i could deal w/ the stomach probs. I wanted to get up to as high as she thought we needed to get asap.
I'm starting CBT today, and i'm thinking that this is my main course of therapy, not the meds. Let's hope.
But yes, if anything, the meds shouldn't be making me worse, at minimum holding me steady, or improving.Brian
