It helps me, definitely not even close to a total cure, but i'll take whatever help i can get including diet, exercise, light therapy, supplements, Spiritual guidence, and medication (also CBT as needed).

I've had good luck using light therapy as an adjunct to meds and therapy. This year, I've been quite diligent about using it every day, and I think it's been key in helping me get over the depression hump.

I tried it for a time. Paradoxically, it made me more depressed. I don't know why that was, but I do tend to feel more at peace on cloudy days. I grew up in Portland, Ore., where it's overcast much of the year. Even though I didn't have a particuarly happy childhood, perhaps gray days nonetheless just feel right to me.

i go out and feed the birds (the sign in the park says "don't feed the pigeons so i only feed the sparrows) and i sit a few minutes in the sun
or i walk and when i find a sunny spot i always stop a few minutes lean on a building aim my face to the sun and close my eyes
i love the winter sun and i feel calmer and more hopeful for those few minutes
