cirrhosis

Does anyone out there think they have cirrhosis and are they afraid to talk to Dr? I have seen Dr with raised enzyemes and other health issues but haven't told him about drinking more than is safe at times but over a long period of time. Please let me hear from you!

I don't have cirrhosis but if your ALT, Bilirubin, and other liver functions suggest it I would absolutely talk to your doctor. Your liver can regenerate but only if it is not subjected to high doses of something that would potentiate problems with it.

Yes, drinking occasionally over a lifetime with no genetic liver disorders is fine, some even say it improves circulation, and all other sorts of things, although others dispute findings and say grape juice is just a good.

But if you're going to be on medication that has a known high capacity to impact the liver, your doctor should order frequent ALT tests.

That's just my 2c

Someone else who understands your plight can probably offer a pearl of wisdom. And if you only "think" you have cirrhosis, you should get to a doctor fast and have a panel and possible scans of the liver. Why wait ?

Cheers

I would talk with your doctor. If you're having symptoms a pharmacological treatment must be extremely good balanced (portal hypertension and so on...). Cirrhosis is reversible concomitant factors like hepatitis makes it more dangerous. But I suggest not to risk something. The severity of a liver damage is measured by many parameters in your blood (child-pugh classification and variables).

Definitely talk with your doc and stop drinking. Are your eyeballs yellowed in any way, stomach bloated, skin yellowish? Catch it now . Pleas don't wait and a lot of meds can cause abnormal liver enzymes. Love Phillipa

Cirrhosis is reversible...means it's possible to live with not so many liver parenchyma sinon auxiliar partial orthotop liver transplantation.

Yes you only need a portion of a liver to live from a suitable donor. Phillipa
