Some med fun hopefully. Since not everyone has good resonses to meds and horrific side effects at times how many have quit a med and why. Was it your decision or your docs or both? Just curious as I've always thought I was the only one. Thanks Phillipa oh and then how many went on to find one or a combo that works and well.

I have been on
Zoloft (worked great - pooped out),
Lexapro (worked great - pooped out),
Effexor (made me crawl out of my skin, pdoc discontinued it)
Wellbutrin (made me crawl out of my skin - discon.
Serzone - can't remember but it's not avail in Canada anymore
Mannerix - started to work then allergic - developed a rash
Topamax - couldn't talk properly "word search"
Lithium - caused extreme tremor in hands..couldn't even type
Neurontin - did nothing
Lamical - can't remember but none of the mood stabs work for me..severe side effects..
Amitriptaline - 10 mg knocked me out for a day
Nortriplatine - 10 mg knocked me out for a day
Parnate - worked well but had extreme chill (found out it wasn't related to it, was from surgery)
Nardil - working great
I know I've forgotten 3 or 4 through the last 20 plus years..so far Nardil has been the best by far..I take it in combination with clonazapam and seroquel and zopiclone for insomnia..Good grief, I'm a walking pharmacy!

I dropped provigil after about 3 weeks because it made me VERY agitated. The first week on it I felt great, but then it just settled into a nasty pattern of nervousness and irritability.
Besides it was outrageously expensive and not covered by my insurance.

I quit Wellbutrin after three days because it made me feel like the room was literally spinning even when my eyes were open and I could not turn my head without feeling like I was going to pass out. Walking was not fun because I looked like I was drunk, and the splitting headache made me quit. I also had leg pains at the same time that may or may not have been related (I've had them since so I tend to think it might be a transient vitamin deficiency). I called my doc, described my symptoms, and she said she had never heard of the med causing those symptoms but to try stopping it and see if they went away. They did, so I never resumed taking it.
I went on to find that Effexor XR 150 mg works extraordinarily well for me. I had no side effects when I started it, although it took a full twelve weeks to start working for me. But once it did, I feel great. I am also on a nontherapeutic dose of Lamictal (50 mg, it's a long story why), which my pdoc and I will probably get me off of in the next few months.
And I think you know you aren't the only one who has ever quit a med because of side effects. You're on this forum enough to know better.

Sunnydays for sure. Amazing how meds affect us all differently isn't it? Phillipa
