I notice that a lot of (but not all) Nardil experiences described online seem to come from men, and am wondering if women's experiences might tend to be different in some ways.
If you're a woman and have used Nardil, I'd be really interested in hearing about your experiences, especially in relation to dose and side effects, but anything else too.

sorry, not a woman :P
I think julie1977 takes nardil, but wasn't too happy with it..
it's true though, depression concerns (much) more women than men, and yet there seem to be more men on here than women.. hmmmm...

You could ask gardenergirl about her experiences with Nardil, or search the archives. I'm not sure whether she's around right now.

I was on Nardil for a short time. I guess I had the usual side effects - weight gain, edema (this was bad), and it made me so slow sleepy that I was in a world of my mine own. That is why I stopped the med.

Thank you all for your replies. I was especially wondering if women might tend to do better on lower dosages than the standard mg/kg recommendation. Some things I have read have suggested that women tend to process antidepressants in general a bit differently from men and so should possibly be started on lower doses.
Not that this would be true across the board -- both men and women can be slow, average, or rapid metabolizers of different substances it seems, but perhaps women are more likely to need doses that differ from standard recommendations.
I have been doing pretty well on 30 mg of Nardil so far. But I also seem to responding to it atypically, so maybe I'm just weird -- have been losing weight(!) to such a degree that I have to make myself eat in order to avoid losing too much, for example.

I got to 45 mg. It was the absolute best for anxiety and depression, but had a side effect that my pdoc and I were very concerned about. It's worth a shot, IMO, as everyone reacts differently.
This is the end of the thread.
