Bupropion

Does anyone here have a success story involving bupropion on a long term basis? If so, was it monotherapy or in combination with other meds and what doses were involved.

I take 300mg XL as monotherapy. I've been on it now for 5 or 6 years. If I miss one day, I can't tell. But if I run out and drag my feet getting a refill, by the third day I can *really* tell. I start sinking, and negative rumminating starts to overtake me. Wellbutrin was not an immediate 'fix.' In retrospect, what I think it did, is make it possible for me to respond to psychotherapy, and over time it gave me enough relief from my depression that it allowed me the space to heal. I'd be afraid to try to stop it, though.

Oh.. as for dosing, I think I started at 150, then after a year went to 200, then about a year ago I went to 300.

Long term? Nope. several trials all resulted in poop-out.
YMMV however.

I took bupropion 300mg/day for 18 months with great sucsess, along with Zoloft 50mg/day.

I stopped it because I no longer felt the need for it, but it worked just as well at the end as it did in the begining.

Side effects were nil.

I had a dramatic reaction to bupropion alone--hypomania. Worked wonders for suicidal depression, though.

For several months it worked well for me in combination with Zoloft. Alone it was too stimulating. Fun, however!

I know what you mean about being afraid to stop it. Do you have any significant side effects from it?

Well, I've gotten more responses than I thought. I never hear anyone talk about this drug these days, so it's interesting to hear about success stories for this med.

Hi,

I think that bupropion is a great medicine.
This drug has really changed my life.

I have always been very tired,
but now I'm not tired anymore.

Bupropion gives me a lot of energy.

I also need medicine for sleep,
and I'm on a combo of mirtazapine and pregabalin.

For anxiety,
I take buspirone and a small dose of flupentixol.

Best regards,
Peter Heuer

Wellbutrin XL 150 mg
Remeron 45 mg
Lyrica 100 mg
Buspar 40 mg
Fluanxol 1 mg

That's really a unique and interesting combination to me. What is the Lyrica and Fluanxol in there for, sleep and anxiety?

Hi,

Lyrica helps me to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
I need a lot of sleep.

Fluanxol has a stabilizing effect on my mind.

Best regards,
Peter Heuer
