I'm using Bilberry extract (I can hear the screams of IT'S NOT THE SAME ---- my person at the herb store tells me it is indeed comparable) along with Fish Oil. I started this about a week ago. A bit early to tell and I discontinued Wellbutrin XL 5 days ago. The discomtinuation of a norepipherine enchancer I'm sure is a big factor, but.... I really feel much better. I used 40 mgs of Bilberry Extract 3 times a day and Fish Oil 3 times a day. I use Cal/Mag at night.
I know my anxiety is less. My agoraphobia is almost gone and I'm not ruminating as badly. My physical symptoms related to anxiety are improved.
Hope this helps. I gauge my dosing with my feelings and behavior improvement. There's much here on the "right" dose, "right" ratios, "right" lots of in and outs of suppliments. I go by how I feel and behave.
I hope you get some relief. Anxiety symptoms are just h*ll for me and I'm thankful for the relief I feel right now.
Kelly

Can you tell me what drew your attention to Bilberry in particular? I've often heard it suggested as a herb for the eyes or vision, but cant't recall anyone mentioning mental health benefits.

Just wondering if you have any specific research.

Glad to hear you have found something which helps you so much though, you must feel mightily relieved....I cant wait until I find my personal "magic potion!"

I actually had my "herb person" (the legal kind -ha, ha) tell me about a person she had who was taking it for visual issues related to macular deterioration and diabetic related eyes changes. This person also had some anxiety things going on. She noticed she was calmer when she took it.

My doc is pretty open with alternative things and he Ok'ed it. Though, I don't think he really knew that much about it, but is aware of how an*l I am about TRYING to find info before just trying something.

I have read some sources while researching it, that it was good for stress related stuff and helped a bit with blood sugar regulation. (could account for some of the calming effects - if your blood sugar isn't peaking and plunging - who knows??) The source, however, was an obscure one. I can find no really good studies related to Bilbery and anxiety, but that's not surprising as it's a suppliment.

It (my feeling and behaving better) may be related to the Fish Oil, though some report increased anxiety with it's use. Thus far, I haven't found that to be the case for me.

Someone did post, a while back, about Blueberry Leaf Extract and had DRAMATIC results from one pill. I can't make that claim for myself, but gradually I am better. The agoraphobia was awful and what I NEEDED to get a handle on. I'm decidedly better in that arena.

I figured with low toxicity potential and few side effects, was worth a whirl. Doesn't cost that much, either - another plus. Effects may be placebo, but I swear I'm better.

Just wanted to remind everyone that it was Ron who got great relief from agoraphobia and panic.

Yes i've heard it said its very useful for such issues. I have a load of "floaters" in my eyes and they drive me nuts. Also other vision problems like shimmering and leaning lines and stuff. I may consider one of these eye formulas that has a few things beneficial to vision and see how it goes.

I wonder if the mental benefits are more of a psychological nature? What I mean by that is vision is a scary thing to be losing and any vision improbements have a good chance of making us feel more relaxed in general? Just a theory though.

As you say though, its inexpensive and has a good history/reputation so definately worth a try, Goodluck with it :-)

That is one of the places he posted about how wonderful it was.

I just took some along with my magnesium taurate and phosporus, which I do 3 times a day, with all of my other stuff once a day in the morning except one that is twice a day. My eyes and head feel a bit... well, that might be something else. I'm not sure. Strained and puffed out all of a sudden.

I haven't had anxiety since after going to the post office today. I think having a beneficial peaceful interaction with strangers helps to reset the mind's insane perception that everyone is a threat and that bullies are everywhere out to do you harm. I did have anxiety/racing thoughts/whatever while showering and when I first woke up though. Maybe its the blueberry leaf extract helping, or the magnesium taurate, or the other stuff. Perhaps a combination.

Having to speak to the mail people about a package, even though briefly, was a possitive thing perhaps. Most people in this world seem rather nice, but for some reason all we worry about are those that wish to harm us.

Any chance of this stuff having any side effects at all? I don't want my head exploding or anything, since I only have one and would rather miss it.

Sorry, couldn't resist that.

So far, I've not noticed any problem with the Bilberry and my research hasn't yielded any info that's there's anything to worry about - maybe a small risk of stomach distress.(ain't that anything ingested)
I haven't had any problems in that arena.
Good Luck.
