If only I had the money I could buy the supplements that could make me better. Unfortunately because I don't have the money, I must use zoloft. I am not really getting better on it.
Is anyone else in the same situation. Anyone got any money they want to give a university student trying to get well ?? :)
Thanks

I don't think money is the whole answer. It's damn helpful, don't get me wrong, but look at all the wealthy people who've had the same difficulties with depression that we have!
I've spent a lot of money trying all the supplements touted at one time or another and none proved pariculary helpful. Of course, some have found them helpful, but many have not. Some that are particulary expensive and worthless IMHO are: SAMe, 5-HTP, St John's Wart, Inositol, C-Q10 (or whatever it's called), homeopathy, high dosages of vitamins such as C, the Bs, E, etc.
Some that I think have helped: Fish oil (at least 4-6 caps in divided doses ) tyrosine and glutamine (on empty stomach in am, not recommended to take all the time) and magnesium (at night).
Good luck.

What dose of SAM-e did you try, and what did it do for you? Are you currently on any prescription medication ??

As mentioned in the topic - if I could afford Amineptine (which is terribly expensive) - my life would _definitely_ be better and more joyful. (because I have dopamine-related problems, and amineptine is (was?) the only dopamien reuptake inhibitor on the market. Oh well..
Take care

I am sorry you are unable to get Amineptine. I assume you tried various sources for discount meds and/or samples from your Dr. Our health care and prescription costs in the country are in very serious need of an overhaul. I am very fortunate and grateful that I have terrific medical coverage with my job. I wish you the best in getting this drug that works for you.
I did not mean to apply that prescription drugs cannot help a lot of us, but I remain very dubious on many alternative, OTC supplements that are unregulated and not properly studied. IMHO, a lot of the $ spent on these supplements goes down the toilet, literally. I'm no exception and I've been duped into many crazy things out of desperation. No more.
Af for the SAM-E, I was taking anywhere betweed 1-2 pills, 2 or 3 times a day. I started with less and worked up, with absolutely no difference. I do not recall what mg the pills where, I guess the standard. I purchased "NOW" brand, which I believe is fairly reputable, as far as these things go.
Best wishes to both.

Link,
What state are you in?
Which supp's would you try to use to replace the Zoloft?
Lastly, are depression and anxiety your chief problems?

I was going to replace the zoloft with a high dose of blueberry extract. The anthocyaninns, (in high doses) dramatically enhance neurogenesis. I was taking about 75mg/kg of anthocyannins and my mood was more normal than it has ever been.

Because every drug/medicine that is somehow connected with dopamine - is helpful for me, meaning: Adderall, Amisulpride, GHB, L-Theanine, Omega-3 etc.
And everything that involves serotonin (SSRI for example) are no good for me.

Nope. I used it primarily for anxiety and anti-depressantly.
