Hi All,
I've been poking through the archives to see what's been said about inositol. It looks to me as if there's a mix of reactions as far as calming vs. activating. I'd like to try it for depression and would like to avoid aggravating the evil whopping anxiety I've been experiencing lately.
I'm wondering how quickly the effects are generally felt. It would be good if I were able to tell relatively quickly if it's going to be helpful or not.
There are times when my depression is very anergic and at those times, I need something a little activating. Does anyone have any thoughts on using inositol on an on-off or variable basis?
Anybody know if there's any reason to avoid taking it with St. John's Wort?
Thanks much,
Emme

From the studies I've read,it normally takes up to 4 weeks to start seeing results. Also, from what I've read,it only works if taken consistently, otherwise symptoms will return once you stop taking it.And taking it with St.Johns Wort is safe and may enhance it's effectiveness.
I recommend doing a search on google for"inositol and anxiety or depression" you should come up with alot of studies and information on it's use and effectiveness.
