How does taurine do on its own against anxiety?

I found the powdered Taurine found in fitness/body-building stores, to be the most effective. It is cheaper (in the long run) and easily absorbed. It is usually a micronized or pharmaceutical grade, also.
You might try adding magnesium citrate too, at bed time. I've found that helps my anxiety. I only take .25mg Klonopin per day and I think the magnesium adds to the effect, so I don't need to have higher Klon. doses.

This really should be on alteranatives, but who gives a flip.

Alot of times i've told my psychiatrist when i feel very mentally unstable, as if something terrible in my mind is going to happen, i drink Red Bull, and it brings a sense of Well-being and control. He said that the most bizarre report he's ever accounted.

It gives me stimulation to where i feel in control, similar to dextroamphetamine, and this makes my anxiety leave, sense i feel "in control"

Anyways...... just to let you know.

Ha! I've never tried Red Bull - the "real" version isn't available here in Canada.
But I know what you mean about feeling in control, and then the anxiety drops. I wonder if it's the Taurine or if it's the stimulants in Red Bull making you more focussed? I know caffeine can do that for me...even though I have anxiety, it seems to have a paradoxical non-anxiety effect on me. I can feel more determined, focused and in control. Although too much makes me jittery.

Can you get this in other countries? I have mentioned it before but nobody responded... :-(

It has Taurine, Caffine, Gurana, and a pretty hefty dose of B12 and masses and masses of sugar (among other things). I reckon it is even better than red bull but that is just my 2c.

It wakes me up and keeps me awake. I think it helps lift depression a bit. Though that may be an illusion as I think I get a bit of a crash when I need another.

I am not sure about those.
B12, though, it is B12 for vegans.

Coffee as a sleep aid!!

I know this sounds stupid, but I actually find coffee helps me sleep.

Ok, sure, if I have too much it doesn't help, but I find that the lift it gives me is obviously followed by a down, which actually helps me feel tired and go to sleep.

Odd huh? I also have a friend who feels the same way - he's been drinking coffee for this purpose for years. Note - it has to be drunk about an hour before.

I think the opposite works for most people, but coffee isn't always the evil health-busting monster people aways make it out to be.

Sorry to get off the subject by the way.

Taurine alone,ah well its possable, prob more so for someone with very mild anxiety or someone who has never yet used a medication.

Using it with a klono just gives klono a slight edge, its more so helping keep the klono more effective at a lower dose, than it is the taurine itself helping.

As for the redbull, the taurine in it acts to counter balance the stimulants the drink is packed with,so its a combination of a stimulant drink with a little bit of a sedative type substance to keep you from bouncing off the walls, this is why redbull is also popular to be used in alcholol drinks as once again the aclholol serves as a mild sedative, and usualy a sedative/stimulant combination work well.

Coffee as well, you get that caffeine blast, but unlike soda you get the calming effects that the coffee grind itself produce which is said to be opiate like in effect.

Lastly i too can fall asleep on high doses of caffeine,i think this might be because dopamine is both inhibitory and stimulatory, increasing dopamine to a certain degree might make one more calmer, plus caffeine if u look it up has muscle smoothing properties, meaning itcan stop shaking and twictching of muscles, the opposite of parkins which is a result of a dopamine defc, one article,i dont know how much weight it holds, belives parkins patients for the most part avoided caffiene most of their lives, who knows.

coffe and asthma

Another benefit I noticed -

coffee temporarily alleviates my asthma symptoms. This is fairly well-known I think. Guarana (a good extract) also does the same for awhile.

Interesting about the coffee grind producing opiate-like effects. I always drink the 'proper' stuff, and always end up drinking the sludge at the bottom.
