I find an almost instant calming effect from drinking my white tea (or camomile) which is what I expected from an L-theanine supplement, but didn't get. I only took it one day so far as I decided to just stick to taurine for now so I can judge the effects of that clearly. But if l-theanine has worked for anyone, I suggest maybe trying tea because it has been quite helpful to me. I drink like 4 16oz? (two teabags) cups (those starbucks travel mug things) a day and it really helps with anxiety for me. I don't know which one is more expensive though. I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Where would we be without tea eh? And white tea is so nice. Nothing like it. No milk, no sugar. Much cheaper than theanine, would have to be, although there was some white tea I was drinking that was expensive enough. One was called Buddhas Pearls, I had the other.

Yup. I really like the lightness of it (I drink good old Celestial Seasonings w/ Pear flavoring).

Bought a really nice Oolong yesterday, which reminded me of white tea.

You're the only other person aside from myself and my sister that I know of who has noticed this effect of white tea. I'm glad to see that someone else has finally noticed and mentioned it. For me, the effect is QUITE pronounced. And really, there's nothing else quite like it. Most other things I've tried that are recommended for anxiety all seem to also promote drowsiness. I can't help but wonder why white tea isn't one of the herbs or natural "cures" first mentioned when discussing anxiety, as it seems to work better than most others. It works very well, but no one notices! I don't know why. Also, I think maybe the action is not due to the L-theanine, because most of the information on L-theanine seems to be mentioned in reference to green tea, and green tea DOES NOT have the same effect on me as white tea.
Anyways, good observation and my experience also confirms it. I drink the Long-life brand of white tea; it is very smooth and sweet tasting.
