Good sleep and depression

Posted by Lao Tzu on June 23, 2008, at 9:38:42

To help me sleep, it seems that Vitamins B3 and B6 along with 200IU of vitamin E and 0.7mg of melatonin work like a charm. I've been sleeping good for the past few months of taking these supplements at bedtime. I get to sleep faster and wake up at a decent hour in the morning. Hope it lasts forever. Sleep is so important for combatting depression. Ever since I started taking Vitamin E at bedtime, I've noticed a great improvement in sleep latency and duration of sleep. I remember my dreams, too, and this might be because of the B6. Also, I don't have to rely on sleep meds, not that I'm opposed to them. If natural works, I will stick with that. I tried taking just melatonin alone, and it worked well for about two months, then its effects diminshed, but after adding 200-400IU of vitamin E, 200mg B3, and 50-100mg B6, I've slept like a baby. Hope this info is helpful to any bipolars or schizophrenics whose sleep patterns are irregular.

I have found certain supplements help me sleep too. If I feel myself starting to wind up into the evening, I take vitamin C (time released) at about 5pm. I also take melatonin at night periodically to keep my sleep cycle from continually pushing back (which it tends to naturally do).

One doctor often said to me that if I could not remember my dreams, I should take a little more P-5-P.

Maybe as you get older, your sleep just becomes way too much lighter?

Anyway, nothing has helped hugely, but at the moment it's.......

AFTER DINNER
Seroctin
Vit C

BEFORE BED
Niacinamide
P-5-P
Tryptophan
Glycine
Melatonin

AT THE FOUR HOUR MARK
Ashawaganda
Valium 2.5mg
