The poster is asking about N Acetyl Cystein, which has been shown to be somewhat effective in OCD.
Bob12, I would go over to the alternative board, ask the same question, and search through it looking for a thread on NAC, I'm almost positive there is one.
It would not hurt to try NAC. If anything, NAC appears to be generally good for overall health. You may have to tinker with dosage. I buy Jarrow's NAC Sustain and split the tablets in half, this goes a long way. I do not take it for OCD though.

NAC is a powerful amino acid derivative of cysteine that can boost glutathione levels and may act as an NMDA antagonist(which could help with glutamate excitotoxicity/over-stimulation.

I have looked in to NAC as well for treating OCD. Maybe I refer you all to this thread where anecdotally people have been trying NAC for treating OCD and they also link to some scientific studies.

It's used medically for thinning mucous (I think), and since lots of people have allergies from the modern world that could be an added benefit.

not nmda antagonist, cystine-glutamate antiporter reverser (i made up term 'reverser', i don't think there is a noun for this. as with AMP for catecholamine transports.)
