Well, for about five minutes. I've told him how much he reminds me of Dr. Kroger, and he wanted to know what it was that reminded me of him. He knew how upset I was when "Dr. Kroger" died.
I showed him a few of my favorite scenes.
"At least I never dug up Trudy and had her stuffed." I know, I've always been proud of you for that." (That's the one that reminds me the most of my therapist.)
"Remember, I won't be here on Thursday. I'm leaving for a three week trip to Costa Rica." "I've never been to Costa Rica". "No, Adrian, you're not going. It's a vacation."
"The answer is in you, Adrian." "No, Dr. Kroger. The answer is in you. If you told me the answer, the answer would be in me."
"It's up to you. We can sit here for twenty minutes and sing showtunes, or we can talk about your sex life." "If ever I should leave you..... It wouldn't be in summer...."
And one of my personal favorites.
"If I won the lottery, I'd put you on retainer, hire you full time. Maybe build a house for you next to mine so I could see you anytime, night or day." "If I won the lottery, I'd buy an island, a desert island." "Would we have our sessions by phone?" "In my dream, my island would have no phones." "So I'd have to take a boat?" "In my dream, no docks."........ "May the best man win."
It was hilarious. We were both laughing. And of course, I showed him the waterfall fountain. It wasn't totally frivolous. I pointed out why Dr. Kroger reminded me of my therapist. And how much I often felt like Monk in wanting so much (too much?) from him. And how the dynamic felt similar in many ways. He wanted to know why Monk's new therapist didn't measure up in my eyes.
For the rest of the session, we both managed to work in lines from the scenes so that the session was just plain fun. :)
Maybe I'll try video therapy more often. I'm feeling ok at the moment, so there was no pressing need to talk about anything else. And it was only five minutes or so. It was a nice change of pace.

You and Daisy mention "Monk" a lot. I have never seen the show until today. They were airing a marathon. And with mono, I have a lot of free time on my hands. Of course, I could read, but it tends to put me to sleep.
Anyway, I love the show.
And I love the that you shared those therapy scenes with your therapist.
I saw an end of an episode today where Monk is quite agitated. Dr. Kroger said something like, "I think we should go back to 3 times a week, M, W, F". Monk says, "and Thurday." "Okay, we'll add Thursday, so that would be 4 days." "And Friday" "Friday? Okay, we'll add Friday, so 5 days a week." "And Saturday." "Saturday! I do not work on Saturdays." "Saturday" Monk repeats. "Saturday, I set aside for my family ... okay Saturday."

I remember that one!
You can see why I identify with Monk. :)
My therapist asked if I was going to keep watching the show now Dr. Kroger is dead, and yes of course I will. I just don't have to like the replacement. The should have had a transition therapist for everyone to hate. Then when they brought on this one, everyone would be glad to get rid of the transition therapist. Everyone needs a transition therapist.

There are bits of Doc Martin that have been very good and funny.
More along the lines of abrupt literalness.

Dinah,
We TRIED to watch Monk tonight. We tried last week and the week before. Thank goodness we taped them!
I so loved (and now MISS) the waterfall fountain in Dr. Kroger's office. I liked Dr. Kroger's office much better.
So now are we going to lose Harold? Or will he try the new guy too?

Hi Dinah,
I would love to do video therapy. I miss Dr. Kroger, but I am beginning to like the new guy. Glad you had a fun session.

I had to look up Doc Martin, but I'm glad I did. It does sound similar to Monk, and I added it to my Netflix rental list.
They always say that Mr. Monk's issue is OCD, and while that's true, I don't think it's all of it. He also appears to be Asperger's. Or maybe OCPD. If I were told of the premise of the show, I'd probably wonder how sensitive it was to have a comedy about mental illness. Once I was watching it, though, I realized that that part was handled with a fair amount of compassion along with the humor.

I was wondering about Harold too. It would be a big loss to have him totally out of the picture, but I'm not sure how they would ease him in. Could two patients really become that attached again so quickly?

You are definitely more resilient than I am!
Dr. Bell is just too vigorous for my taste.
This is why I'd never be able to find a therapist if mine abandoned me. Some would be too hard, some would be too soft, and almost none would be just right.

Dinah,
I was thinking Harold would just show up at the new doc's office. Ideally this would be after Monk has made an attachment to the new guy. Sorry, I can't remember his name!
Maybe they could bump into each other in the waiting room, and Harold could tell Monk he had tried every other doctor in San Francisco, but no one was as good as Dr. Kroger.
OR there could be a new case for Monk to solve, maybe Harold is the one they think killed someone, and Monk would have to "save" him. And seeing how distressed Harold was, Monk would recommend his new doc only to regret it later.
