Hi.
Are there any people here who like nutmeg? I could have said that i like it, but the extremely intense and long-lasting nausea (it lasts almost for 2 days) ruins the experience.
Any tips to fight the nausea? Anyone had success with any antiemetics? Which one?I have reasons to believe that this is not just an anticholinergic deliriant. There's more to it. It feels more than just an anticholinergic!
There is a theory that some of its essential oils are metabolized into amphetamine-like substances inside the body, but this hasn't been proven and it might be faulty.
PS: If anyone has the essay: "The chemistry and psychopharmacology of nutmeg and of several related phenylisopropylamines", please contact me via babblemail. Thanks.

It was a while back but I never felt the urge to repeat it.
I eat a container of it.
Very nutmeggy vomit.
And sort of delirious after.
If you prevented the vomiting that might be dangerous.
You think?

> Very nutmeggy vomit.Yeah, the nausea is extreme, but i will not vomit as long as i remain in bed. Which is difficult for... almost 2 days.

Sort of, as you said.. I never go that far, but there is some profound anticholinergic action, so other more sensitive people could experience delirium.
> If you prevented the vomiting that might be dangerous.
> You think? To "flush the poison"? No, i don't think so, because the nausea occurs about 3.5-4 hours after the ingestion.

I've done nutmeg at least several times, and i never got nauseous for some reason. And it's not that i have a steel stomach (i can fairly easily get sick from alcohol). I mean i wasn't having enough to have like those 18-hour-long massive nightmare trips that i have read about, i only ever had enough to give me that nice cannabis-like buzz (that i like considerably more than cannabis-- i don't much like cannabis anymore generally). So maybe you're just taking too much, or taking it the wrong way? I'm not sure. But if you are looking to trip then it might not be possible to have enough without having nausea & vomiting, i'm not sure.
Oh, also i wanted to say, Yeah, i've been trying for YEArs to find out the pharmacological actions of nutmeg. But all i've ever found were theories, possibilities, and ambiguous generalities. If you do ever discover this please share with us.
Happy nutmegging!

Yes, it sounds like you are taking a low dose.
> (that i like considerably more than cannabis-- i don't much like cannabis anymore generally). So maybe you're just taking too much,Hmm.. I don't know. Is 5 medium sized nuts considered too much. How much do you take?
> or taking it the wrong way? I'm not sure. The only wrong way i know is to take pre-grinded nutmeg instead of bying whole nuts and grind them yourself. Is there anything else that i should know of?
> But if you are looking to trip then it might not be possible to have enough without having nausea & vomiting, i'm not sure.I think that this is true.

If you do ever discover this please share with us.I will. The Shulgin's theory that the essential oils of nutmeg are being metabolized to substituted amphetamines is highly controversial and remains a theory. The main mode of action of nutmeg is its profound anticholinergic effects, but i think there is more to it...
