I may feel fine now. However, when I talk to people outside of my home, I suffer confusion, increased heartrate, severe nervousness, shaking, nausea, and mild fever. When I think of something to do with the outside world, it brings on the these conditions. When ANYONE stresses me out, I suffer the SAME conditions. Could this be a form of serotonin syndrome?
The drugs:
Zyprexa 2 mg
Vistaril 25 mg
Trazodone 25 mg
Cogentin 0.5 mgAll with food at bedtime.
I cannot drink any amount of caffiene or sugar (worsens the symptoms). Alcohol is not thought of, completely.
When I started taking them, 6 months ago, I had the same symptoms described earlier.
I seriously need some advice. Could this be serotonin syndrome?

I doubt it-your doses are pretty low. It sounds like panic anxiety to me. You should relay this to your doctor-maybe you need to be taking a benzo instead of one of your current meds (or in addition). Klonopin sounds like a good choice.

Well,I'm not a doctor, though I may search the Net like one,
but I would like to know why such a mix? Why such
a combo - I think I missed what you are taking
these drugs for. Serotonin syndrome is quite
serious - with hyperpyrexia being at a dangerous
level -- to me, it sounds like these drug combination
may not be agreeing with you. A benzo, may mute
the effects, but it may be worth your while to
check with your doctor before adding another drug.Squiggles

I would be very surprised if it were. What is the condition being treated with these medications, and in particular why are you taking the Cogentin?
Also, did you take your temperature (and if so what was it), or do you just feel feverish?

syndrome, and I picked Dr. Ken Gillman who is
a specialist in this area of psychopharmacology,
out of all the site I saw.However, if you don't want that to be done,

St.James was *not* directing his sarcastic comment to you, it was meant for *me*! And he apparently made that comment just because this was like the second (big whoop) time that I posted a question asking for a simple defintion of some psych. terms, which St. James feels I should have the time to do a full-blown internet search on.
I only posted those questions directly on this board because I have seen how knowledgeable and helpful people on here are, and figured it would be faster, easier and more convenient for me to ask those questions and get answers on here.
St. James has no idea how much I am dealing with in my life at this time, *besides* my own condition. Anyway, I sure will not be asking any more such questions here anymore, but THANK YOU again, Squiggles, for posting those links - they were very helpful.

I would be dismayed were you not to continue asking questions to develop the understanding you are reaching for. Although I don't always have the energy to provide tutorials, I'll try to keep an eye out for you, as long as I have a few *monoamines* to work with.

Thank you both for the *encouragement* and support I needed - I must admit, I get overly sensitive (I've long been that way) and was a bit *hurt* by the sudden sarcasm and implication that I ask too many questions on here.
So I really appreciate what each of you posted here, as well as the information and answers to my questions you've given me (that I honestly don't have time to start searching on the 'Net for; plus, I'm not the most skilled searcher in the world!) Thanks again! :-)

I know how hard it is to have unanswered questions...But one way to get great info is searching the archives of PB. It is tremendously more simple then searching the "Net", and you will often see post by people who are currently on the board.
If you go to the top of this page and click on "search", you can scan through the last several years of posts. You simply type in the words you want located, and the system will pull up the relevant posts. I think you might find this useful, and quicker than going out on to the world wide web.
Please don't let anyone discourage you from asking a question. That is how we all learn. But sometimes the answer is readily available without having to wait for a reply. It's merely sitting in the archives.
