Yes. Nembutal (PENTOBARBITAL SODIUM). Took it for sleep years ago. Was the BEST sleep I've ever gotten. Tolerance builds up quickly - so was only one it for 2 months. I'd give almost anything for another script of it - which I actually DID get - but foudn out they stopped making it in Nov. 2004!! ARGH

Jeez, can you believe they gave me two seconals when I went into false labor with my third child? And they didn't even put me to asleep! I guess I do have a bad sleep problem. Fondly, Phillipa

I wasn't in any pain at all. They just wanted me to sleep and observe me until morning. They didn't give me any to take with me. But with what they know now it could have hurt my daughter. Fondly, Phillipa

In the good old seventies barbiturates were the real deal. Quaalude, seconal, tuinal, etc., etc., They all worked a dream especially qualude but that was strictly self-medication.

Yeah, in small doses they produced a tingly euphoria with disinhibition, which of course barbiturates do too, but with them no tingly euphoria. I wondered if methaqualone adversely effected speech (I don't mean in high, ie sleep inducing doses.) Almost as nice as an opiate.

Sounds wonderfull, wish i had some , but valiums what i got and that (20-50mgs) with low dose wine (maybe somewhat comparable?) is very nice indeed. Pity they were discontinued-like all effective, somewhat 'fun' meds.

Great in low doses, and combined well with opiates and psychedelics, in appropriate doses. Mispent youth.

they were more euphoric than opiates. they were superb in small controlled doses like to get through the day at work. they worked really well for social phobia as long as you didn't take too many; they motivated, they made you feel ok in your own skin. Of course if you took too many your face would wind up in your dinner or worse. Nothing like alcohol though. I mean they must have been good if they were forced to stop making them all those years ago. Obviously, they were my drug of choice and I used them as an anti-depressant. Back then the only alternatives were trycyclics or benzos neither were viable choices for me.
