Depatkote, Neurontin and now Trileptal all seem to cause my front bottom lower teeth to hurt. Lamictal did this too. Depakote seems to be the worst. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi PHillipa,
No, it's been because it's been so bad. I have steadily gone downhill over the last three years and was hospitalized in January because I was actively sucidical and asked to be put someplace safe.
How are you? I was so glad to see your name on the board. ARe you doing okay?

I've seen some random things about Neurontin/gabapentin causing actual dental problems. I haven't been able to pin it down, but some claims are pretty dramatic (drama on the internet, who'd imagine?)
Google 'neurontin dental' and you'll get a glimpse.

I take trileptal (600 mg in the evening) and I have never had dental pain, but I can definitely feel when it kicks in in my gums -- a kind of relaxed feeling, I suppose, which is weird b/c there is no muscle there to relax... it almost feels like a slight anesthesia. I don't know if this is related or not.

The only time I've had anything like this is when I've used the "supplement" picamilon. It made my teeth feel like they're stuck together with chewy candy, and I try to open my jaw. Sort of a pulling feeling. It did make one area in my teeth actually hurt, and a tooth there subsequently broke badly resulting in a root canal just today. Maybe it increases pain sensitivity in teeth? I guess that might be good in a canary-in-a-coal-mine sense, and if any of these drugs are making a specific tooth hurt, it might be worth checking out.
I never had any pain with gabapentin, and found that it decreased pain everywhere.
Picamilon supposedly affects GABA like some mood stabilizers, although I've found it entirely worthless.
This is the end of the thread.
