Has anyone here tried Savella yet?

Any thoughts?

Tried it for 8 weeks
increased energy
not sure about depression
super increased irritability (that's why I discontinued it)

Very interesting. Sounds like many of the activating treatments I've tried. I will get energy but it's not really accompanied by a lifting of depression or increase in happiness, but rather a descent into irritability and anger.

Thanks for the input!

Savella (and its equivalent from Europe, Ixel/Milnacipran) has had a pretty poor track record for most people on this board, including myself. Based on a good response to SNRIs and my pdoc's insistence, I tried it for 3 weeks. More info here....http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20090810/msgs/911300.html

Forest Labs -- the pharm company that brought us Celexa, and later Lexapro -- has decided to begin phase III testing of an enantiomer the Milnacipran molecule. It is currently being called F2695. I am highly disappointed that another big pharm company is choosing another conservative route in its clinical development. I guess this should come as no surprise.

As the people who play devil's advocate would say, "If they didn't do things like that then they would run out of money". It's nice to know that the only way the drug companies can keep going is if they make more of the drugs that are selling well regardless of true efficacy. Pristiq is another disappointment along those lines.

What SNRI(s) did you respond well to? What happened in the end that caused you to go off?

I partially respond to both Effexor and Cymbalta. The latter being somewhat slightly more efficacious. I still have quite a few grievances with them as effective therapies of course, but they seem to help me more in terms of overall functioning than the SSRIs. I am very med sensitive to all the SSRIs/SNRIs, so I have typically been stablized on a lower-than-standard dose. I am still on ~10 mg of Cymbalta in combination with a low dose of Nefazodone.
