Placebo effect in depression

Posted by Glenn on March 25, 1999, at 16:17:50

I am doing research for a seminar involving the placebo effect
and the treatment of depression. Does anyone know of a well conducted
clinical trial comparing either:
placebo vs. patient interaction
placebo vs. active medication
or any combination of the sorts

I would appreciate the help and any comments you may have on the topic.

I personally feel that there is a large impact on the health professional
in either the success of failure of treatment in this disease. Whether or not
medication is used, the interaction between the patient and health care
provider (doctor, pharmacist, nurse) is the most responsible for enhancing
the therapeutic effect of either an active medication or increasing the
placebo effect.
