Lucia,
I assume you are referring to chocolate covered expresso beans which are available in most trendy, coffee shops -- which we have in most corners of downtown Vancouver thanks to Starbucks and their would-be competitors.
I've long self-medicated with coffee, with varying effects but it does help with the fatigue which is a pattern for me, in depression. Then again, someplace or other I've read that caffeine changes the shape of different brain structures, so like ADs it's hard to tell what the long term impact might be and it varies with the amount and concentration of caffeine.
I believe I read that caffeine is a often used as self-medication by those who experience depression someplace in Pierce J. Howard's: "The Owner's Manual for the Brain -- Everyday Applications from Mind-Brain Research". Did a quick scan while in the can and couldn't find the reference, but then I haven't had my first coffee, yet. ; )
