According to www.biopsychiatry.com, Zispin = Remeron = Mirtazapine

How about it, Remeron folk? Did she really need a wash-out period to switch from Paxil to Remeron?
Paxil works wonders for some people, and then for others (like me) it's a nightmare. Stopping cold turkey like that was NOT a good idea, and it rarely is a good idea for ANY psychotropic medication -- unless the med is doing some serious harm to you and it's medically necessary to stop immediately.
Even when I was tapering off paxil, I went through some pretty severe withdrawal ... and that was over the course of a month.
I checked at www.mentalhealth.com and was quite surprised to see that Remeron/Zispin/Mirtazapine was not in their list of meds. (Is it available in Canada?) Anyone got a URL for Nikki to point her towards some information on it?
Nikki, I'm sure the folk here on remeron can help you more than I can, particularly with whether you can taper slowly off the paxil while starting up the remeron. Having been through paxil withdrawal, I hope you find some relief soon ... just remember, even though you may feel awful right now you will get through it.
be well,
bob
