On Ritalin- Can I Quit Effexor now?

Posted by Libby on July 7, 2000, at 10:37:45

I saw a question in another thread that has stuck with me for a few days. I wonder if some of you who are experts could answer it.

Does the fact that Effexor XR now makes me sleepy, rather than more alert mean that my brain chemistry is returning to "baseline" and maybe it's time to taper off/quit? The Ritalin has helped my mood, sleep patterns, and cognitive functioning. And bringing my dose of Effexor XR down from 300 mg/day to 150 mg/day helped me think more clearly, even without the Ritalin, so now that I'm thinking more clearly, I wonder if I could do even better without the Effexor altogether.

Thoughts?

L.
