> I know it sounds crazy because people mostly get depression more in the winter,But for as long as I've known it seems like i feel sadder in the summer.my dr. thinks it's because I scared of being around people & since more people are out in the summer it makes it hard to get out & go places.I have a week off of work this coming week, & i want to do somethings w/ my kids, my son wants to go crabbibg/fishing & to the boardwalk to go on some rides. So how can i do these things so my kids don't hate me?
Dr. Norman Rosenthal, who is considered an expert on SAD, has a whole chapter on summer SAD in his book "Winter Blues." He says it's caused by heat and maybe, the bright light of summer. I have it, and it's definitely triggered by heat. I become so sluggish and depressed. I've learned to handle it, though, by going out as little as possible during the hottest hours, and by
constantly splashing my face, arms, etc, with cold water. I take a spray bottle of cold water with me whenever I have to be in the heat, and spritz myself constantly. . And I take lots of cold showers. These things really work.
