Well, first of all, it's really hard living with someone who suffers from depression. on the other hand, if your hubby is not part of the solution, he's part of the problem. Depression is far more than just a chemical thing. the amount of support plays a fundamental role in recovery (as pointed out by more and more clinical studies). I'd recommend (strongly) that you seek support elsewhere, because trying to get through to him will only icrease your sense of helplessness and isolation. Overall, women are more understanding and capable of care and support than men (again, according to studies).

> I am new to this but I thought maybe someone would respond to me- maybe help. I have been married 11 years and have had numerous health problems during this time. I have had hypothyroidism the last 10 years and suffered 5 miscarriages (we do however have 2 children) I have had bouts of depression off and on and finially in the last few years have tried to get help for it. I don't know how to let my husband help me. He is not a very communicative man and not very observant. I cannot get him to understand that what I am going through( the last few months have been hell) I cannot get through with out him. He really makes it worse by acting like he does not see a problem. I think he thinks I can just snap out of it, I can't take it anymore with him. He thinks he is being supportive but is in no way helping me. Please- if any one can give me some advice.
