In reply to Husband does not understand depression, posted by Christine E. on October 11, 2000, at 22:28:45
I understand where you coming from, only my problem is more that my husband doesn't understand my anxiety. I am afraid to go almost anywhere. I like the walls of my home, I feel more comfortable here, but as soon as I go out, I start freaking out. Mainly about something happening to my daughter. But my husband does not understand that my anxiety is not something I have control over. I started taking meds, and they haven't helped enough yet for me to go out really. Since we live in Italy (military) and I have no family and just a few "friends" that I don't really talk to about my problems. So, for support I usually go on the internet. I rather have a live person in front of me telling me they understand, but I don't, so I have to take what I can get. I know I probably didn't help much, but I just wanted you to know your not alone. Besides, it is a fact that men are not as compassionate and they don't pick up on our feelings. It's just the way they're built. And I know from trying, that you can't make them any different. -Flutter :)
