Well, I've been on Depakote w/ Paxil (750 and 15mgs, respectively) since April 2000. I almost wasn't treated
because I am so young.. I am 18. I have a history of anorexia so I was really concerned when my doctor said that
I would gain weight while on depakote. My metabolism has definately changed, she (my doctor) was definately
right about that. But because I modified my diet to compensate... or maybe my low dosage... I have managed to
stop my wieght gain at around five pounds. I must admit horrible cravings for chocolates and candy and other
comfort foods like cheesesteaks, that can wreak havok on my weight with this stuff and the pounds are very hard
to shed without amphedamines or the cheaper alternative of skipping doses. Niether are fun, but they are a means
to an end. So, with a one meal a day (with a small snacklike non/lowfat breakfast and lunch, usually fruit or
powerbars), one can tame the beast called Depakote. Good luck to the rest of you...it's tough going.
