In reply to Temporary Leave from Prozac???, posted by Alli on February 8, 2001, at 16:46:04
I would not come off the Prozac. I would check this out further. It doesn't sound right to me. Maybe someone else is familiar with this, or has an opinion. Sometimes an antidepressant does not work if you go off it/happened to me with Paxil.

> I am writing this for my mother. She is currently taking 20 mg. of Prozac a day. She is having a face lift on Feb. 19th, and the surgeon's office told her to quit taking her Prozac (and Premarin) because they were blood thinners and that she could **resume taking them after a month.** I told her that I thought I read that once you go off of Prozac it may not work again. Is this correct? Also, I'm concerned because she was prescribed Prozac for alcoholism and I'm wondering if by going off the old cravings will reappear (it's been years) I told her to call her doctor and that I would put the question out to all of you. Thanks in advance for any responses!
