Effexor for Anxiety

Posted by Diane J. on May 11, 2001, at 21:41:37

I attempted to get off Effexor last month, but it was too difficult. After talking to my psychiatrist we decided I could stay at 150 mg rather than the 225 I had previously taken.

I take Effexor XR for recurrent depression and also generalized anxiety disorder. I have not felt depressed for a long time, and that's why I initially thought I could quit the Effexor. That part is still all right with me. However, now I feel anxious feelings with greater frequency. When I was at a low level of the drug it also happened that my OCD picked up at a fever pitch.

I know that many of you out there have taken Effexor for depression. Has anyone had experience with the drug with regard to anxiety? I am wondering if taking 75mg less than I did before could have such a marked effect on my anxiety.

Thank you in advance!
