> I have been on paxil 4 a little over 7 months. I started a few days after the birth of my son.The sleepiness wore off after about 2 months but then I found it returned after a couple of weeks. While my son was still in the NICU (he was a preemie) I found myself rocking us both to sleep. I'd have to ask a nurse 2 put him back in the isolette b/c I didn't have the energy.I'm now tapering off paxil b/c of adverse reactions. The groggy effect gets worse when you try to come off (FOR ME/ YOU MAY REACT DIFFERENTLY). I'm nursing & my baby is just as groggy as me. He takes 3 hour naps , were before I was lucky if he'd nap for 15 minutes. We are both sweaty (more so than the sweaty effect of regular dose). The bed is saturated ... ( I thought baby's diaper leaked it was THAT bad). Maybe the sleepy effect can be explained ... I have 2 hypothesis... 1) Your body is adjusting to incresed levels 2) Paxil has a 12 hour half life...This means your 30 mg. dose will PEAK 12 hours after you swallow that lil pill. It's an up hill climb before that & a down hill tumble after until you take your next dose. Basically, u should feel your best 12 hours after taking & maybe the fluctuation of levels in your system is what's making u sleepy? My sleepy times are more dominant in the morning (2hrs. prior to my dose @ 10 am.) but I do feel fatigued in the after noon. I just figured out the half life bit... I usually get a burst of energy & want to start cleaning house at 10 pm. You have to bear in mind, in my opinion, everyone can react differently to SSRI's Hope that helps...
