I have taken Celexa for about 18 months. I have not had any weight gain. But I did have sexual side effects (although not as bad as with Prozac). Sexual side effects are common with all SSRI's including Celexa. A few months a go I added Ginkgo to help with sexual side effects and it has helped a lot. The medical article said to take 240 mg per day (120 twice a day) to help with SSRI induced sexual dysfunction. I take about half that amount with good results. Ginkgo is an anticoagulant so you need to be cautious about bleeding problems.
> I've been taking 50-75 mg of Zoloft and 5-10 mg of Pamelor (nortriptyline) for 8 years for chronic low-grade depression. On the whole, despite the problems with weight gain and a lessening of libido, its been a godsend. Recently, however, I asked my pyschiatrist if I could try something else -- preferably something that will help me feel as good as I do on Zoloft, but address the weight gain/libido issues. She suggested that I try Celexa. Anyone have any stories they could share?
