I use DA to represent dopamine and NE to mean norepinephrine.
The primary ones of benefit in the US which are da + ne agonists are Wellbutrin and Ritalin (there are a few other stimulants but these are the best short acting prn DA/NE prosexual meds).
As I mentioned earlier Serzone and Remeron are also useful in many cases for serotonin induced sexual dysfunction.
All of these meds may interact dangerously with some drug regimens, but with effexor I believe all should be ok, though still always good to go through a doctor. The post just made sounds like one from experience and makes sense. Remeron will essentially block serotonin, possibly increase DA, and will increase NE.
I think low dose may be best, 7.5 perhaps at first try.Serzone alone 50-150 also.
Wellbutrin 100 or so.
Ritalin not as sure, maybe 2.5 - 10.I like the last posters Remeron suggestion best as a starter. A single med and could be very effective. I would keep dose very small though at first.
Don't go high dose 15 or more at first, actually serotonin syndrome could be possible (unlikely but possible). The other meds at the above doses should be safe, though I'd recommend Serzone alone first. Wellbutrin alone 2nd, and if all fails Serzone + Wellbutrin or SErzone + Ritalin.
Viagra usually never hurts either. :)
I think I went a little overboard but oh well ...
