I started nortriptyline (Pamelor) about 2 weeks ago. 25 mg for week one, up it to 50 mg for week 2 and forward. May increase it more, depending on my response. Have to hit a certain range where the dosage is most effective, and evidently one finds that by monitoring how it's doing and increasing (or decreasing, I guess) as needed.
I do not like the idea of being on a TCA. The only difference between nortrip and the many ssri ad's I've tried has been incredible sedation, VERY dry mouth, oh, and funny taste in my mouth. Sort of metallic or chemicalish.
I believe I am noticing some little improvement, but that may be placebo effect. Never felt any improvement with ssri's unless I'd been on it for at least 3-4 weeks. Usually, ssri's took longer to show improvement.
