Here's my take on your question.

Awakeness - never a problem on Effexor for me.

Sexual Function - Takes longer to finish for me.

Withdrawal - Likely to knock your scocks off when the time comes.

My guess is that your doc is a general practioner. My suggestion is to start off with Zoloft or Prozac. If they don't work you can discontinue them with relative ease and take Effexor.

Just my thoughts...
