only effective for depression at 15 or more mg

In reply to 5mg of REMERON, posted by Panic AttacK on February 3, 2002, at 20:37:46

Some people break the 15 mg pills in half to use as a sleeping pill (7.5 mg), but the only effective doses for depression are 15-60 mg/day (the higher the dose the less the sedation).
Taking less than 15 mg means the Remeron is basically only working as a strong anti-histamine (sleeping pill) without any anti-depressant effects.

If you are depressed why not take 15 mg or the 30 mg you were prescribed?- it will still help you sleep at 30 mg and will have a stronger anti-depressant effect.
