> I am having a horrible melt down today, can't stop crying, getting very scared I might end up in the hospital. A month ago I added Zoloft to my meds, I felt great. After a month I felt like I had the flu, headache, backache. But it's not going away. My doctor thinks it is my Risperdal going too high, so she cut it in half. That was 3 days ago, now I can't stop crying and still feel physically ill. I feel like I am going downhill fast! I am wondering if I am having a med interaction? Or is one of my meds going too high?My meds are Lamictal, Remeron, Risperdal, Cogentin and Restoril, and the recently added Zoloft. I know you guys know alot more about meds and their interactions than I do, can someone help?
Rainbow,I just did some quick checking on your meds and it appears that the Risperdal, Zoloft, and Remeron (for sure) are *all* metabolized to varing extents by liver enzyme CYP2D6. What that means is that the blood levels of all of those respective medications are now possibly a dice-toss relative to what they were before you changed your med regimen by adding the Zoloft. I just think you are "too many changes to the wind" to figure out what is the culprit or what is causing problems. The only suggestion I've got given all of this is-call your pdoc yet again and explain this situation, possibly resume your med regimen immediately prior to the Zoloft add and let your blood levels stabilize-then *get* blood levels of all of your meds and then make the change and remonitor. I couldn't find anything that helpful for Lamictal blood levels and other meds affecting it except that Depakote will boost it (not much help). I think your pdoc is probably on the right "track" in the sense that a med is causing another to accumulate excessively or clear too quickly, i.e. The trouble of course is *which* one? If you feel like you need to go to the ER, then just go and explain all of this to the ER doc and let them handle it.
good grief, I hope this gets straightened out
soon,Mitch
