Hi bordendazed,

If you have had 6 years of success with Prozac I would stick with it. It is without a doubt the best AD I ever took. Thought I had poop out after 1 year and was DXed Bipolar II. I was taken off ADs and started on Depakote and Lamictal - that was a year ago and still don't have the depression under controll. People talk about "emotional blunting" from ADs - I would give anything to have a little of that.

In my opinion 3-5 Darvocets per week, a few beers, and coffee is nothing. I used to take Darvocet for hangovers.

Like you I was a child of the 60s but unlike you I abused some things heavily. Know all to well about "better living through chemistry". The only thing that saved me was my youth.

I did take Prozac weekly for a time. Dosing by pdocs instruction was one cap every 5 days. I could never see the benefit because I never had a problem remembering to take my morning dose of regular Prozac. I found it more difficult to remember the 5 day interval than the dailey one. I also think this was an attempt by Lilley to extend and protect their patent.

I am about to restart Prozac and hope it will bring relief. No generics this time, only the brand name.

I wish you well,

Geezer
