The risperdal works really well for me along with cognitive work. It's very calming and helped to elimante the symptoms that the celexa didn't-- irritability, obsessive thoughts, anxiety. It's an atypical antipsychotic and while it is used for schizophrenia it'a aslo used in much smller doses for treatment resistant depression and to boost the efficacy of SSRI's. I love it, it's the least obsessive I've ever been. HOWEVER, (here's the big BUT), unfortunately, between the celexa and the risperdal I have gained a whopping 50 pounds this year. I'm hungry all the time. So the idea was to switch from celexa to lexapro (fewere side effects supposedly, including weight gain) and then switch from risperdal to seroquel, another atypical antipsychotic which is supposed to be weight neutral. I'm in the middle of going from celexa to lexapro which I was assured would be an easy switch and it's not! Problems with nausea, headaches, vomiting. Flu-like symptoms. Could be celexa withdrawal. I don'tr know but I'm getting fairly frustrated. babs
