is ZYPREXA a serotonin agonist or antagonist????

Posted by ace on March 12, 2003, at 0:16:35

I have heard conflicting reports on this. Most people think of the AP's as dopamine/serotonin antagonists. I believe they are all dopamine antagonists - which is helpful for severe OCD.

But with regard to serotonin some people say they are serotonin antagonists. others serotonin agonists.]

Even Toby, a neurologist and psychiatrist who used to post in the early days of this site, stated, "zyprexa causes and all-around boosting of serotonin"

So, what is it. Who knows its affinity for each serotonin receptor? Is their both going on here??

Thanks,
Ace.
