Hi Tree -
I've been wondering how you were doing with the Wellbutrin. To me, it doesn't seem unusual that you're experiencing a waning of the energy side effect. My theory is that either you're adjusting to the side effects, or the sleep deprivation is catching up with you, or both.
When I first started taking it, not only did I have trouble sleeping, the sleep I did get was poor quality - not going into a deep sleep, reawakening frequently. I think after several days of insomnia, you would feel tired and unmotived, unable to concentrate during the day. I felt like my brain wanted to sleep, but my body was too amped up.
The insomnia side effect did diminish for me (my main complaint now is that I can't stay awake! I think that's unusual though, and probably not caused by the Wellbutrin). The appetite thing - hard for me to say (I have the unusual effect of increased appetite from stimulants). Could it be that you're unconsciously eating to stay awake? I find myself doing that sometimes, and I'm not aware of it.
If the insomnia gets to be too much, you can always lower your dose. I hope this helps.
> I've been taking Wellbutrin now for 9 days, and moved up from 150mg to 300mg on the 5th day. I have much more energy and motivation, but it seems to diminish a little each day. Does this sound right? I am enjoying the increased productivity and motivation to go out walking, but I am having lots of trouble sleeping, as expected. I've been taking 0.5 Clonazepam in the evening - experimenting with the time. I either sleep till 4:30, then can't go back, or wake up much earlier and then sleep lightly off and on. Today is the first day I have felt tired and unmotivated during the day. I don't know if it's the Wellbutrin not working, or the lack of sleep. My "mind chatter" has definately increased and I can't seem to do things like read or write for very long - attention wanders. Anyone had experience with this? Which of these are side effects that may diminish after a while? Also, I was hoping the W. would curb my appetite, but no such luck so far.
