Although I don't know your situation in detail, I'd go for "shouldn't". My reaction to WB was quite severe and didn't get better with time. My GP thought it was "imaginary", but my pdoc (whom I saw after this episode) knew better.
My "shouldn't" also applies to your pdoc -- if he's that callous/careless then I'd move on if you possibly can -- unless you're in a remote area or severely limited by insurance, there must be better ones available. Many pdocs are incompetent (in my opinion), some are OK, and a few are excellent, just as in other professions. Although it's tedious and painful, it's worth seeking out the best, even if it takes a while.
