Essence,
You wrote,[....my 16 year old son may start Concerta...I am worried...anyone with experiance with this drug...].
I do not know if your request for infomtion about Concerta is limited to those that have taken the drug or could encompass infomation that is redily available from others that may not have taken the drug.
I could give you infomation for you to consider so that you could make an informed decision as to whether for your son to take it or not, but I have not taken the drug.
But as a junior-high school teacher for many years, I have had first-hand obsevation with students ages 12 to 16 that have been put on Ritalin, which is a similar drug and so I studied this in great detail. What I have found out is the following:
Ritalin, and the similar drug Concerta, is a drug called Methylphenidate which is similar to the pharmacological activity to that of amphetamines. It is a stimulant to the nervous system.
Amphetimines were used in World War II by soldiers of all sides. The Japanese used {Meth}amphetsmine. Hitler took injections of Methamphetamine daily according to historians and some say that he had madness associated with this.
Lou
