Zyprexa, vivid dreams and reality blurring

Posted by Delysid on October 9, 2003, at 2:00:55

Hi,

My 14-year-old daughter has recently started Zyprexa for treating some delusional symptoms. No actual hallucinations or voices but some paranoia and feeling like there may be cameras or microphones around, and also not sure if she is broadcasting her thoughts sometimes. But specifically, she said today that since starting the Zyprexa her dreams have been vivid and disturbing, and sometimes she is not sure if something she remembers in the recent past, like the past day or two, happened in a dream or in real life.

Has anyone had similar experiences, particularly this blurring of dreams and reality, with Zyprexa or other antipsychotics? Or could it be the underlying illness itself?

Oh I guess I should mention she was on 5 mg per day of Zyprexa for the first couple weeks, then a week at 7.5 mg, and has just bumped up to 10 mg a day. She was on Risperdal before that but blood work revealed her prolactin levels had shot up and there were some other abnormalities so her doctor switched her to Zyprexa.

Thanks for any responses.
