Inderal for overcoming Social Anxiety

Posted by Shonyn on December 8, 2003, at 12:03:47

Hi there, I was considering using Inderal to help me get over Social Anxiety. I have tried using it on a couple of occasions and it has enabled me to walk into large group meetings etc and feel almost fine, something that really amazed me TBH.
I have an irrational fear in these kind of situations, it can be very crippling, sometimes I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack/pass out.
I've been thinking that if I went into enough of these situations (feeling calm and relaxed due to Inderal) in a short space of time & with a little help from some CBT, I might overcome the problem.
I can see that the Inderal may become my coping strategy if I continued to take them for too long, but if I wean my way off them whilst doing lots of social things like dance classes etc, I'd probably be OK.

What do you think?
