Go and find out. If your doctor is able and willing to prescribe it, I would try it.
For me, Neurontin does a great job so far. It reduces anxiety (especially social anx.), improves memory and concetration for me. Its like Neurontin clears up my mind. My thoughts are a lot more organised. I can focus a lot better on an idea. But its still not enough.
Futhermore, Neurontin is not just an GABA-agonist which directly binds to the GABA receptors. It also reduces noradrenergic activity (I do bad on noradrenergics) and also indirectly reduces glutamergic activity and blocks some special calcium channel types (L-Type as far as I remember. But I dont know what the calcium channel blockade it good for, but I guess it results in neuroprotection, since memantine blocks the nmda receptor, which acts as a calcium pump, when activated by glutamate. And too Much calcium in the cell is believed to result in neuronal death). Also the reduced glutamate results in neuroprotection. Thats anohter point why I take it besides I may have some kind of subsyndromal epilepsy, but this never got clearly diagnosed. Maybe the good effects are only due decreased anxiety. Whatever, as long as I benefit from it, I will take it. I love it!I wish you luck in "convincing" your doc to prescribe it ;)
