First: I'm so sorry to hear about your wife and her mania - Do you know why they started her on Geodone as her first treatment?
I think her history might be important here. I have been on a series of drugs for BP2, Post Traumatic Stress and Geodone was one of them that I didn't do very well on. I had a lot of hallucinations ie. I would wake up in the middle of the night and hear footsteps or running water plus I would have a lot of flashbacks but that was because I escaped a war as a child. What was her childhood like? Are there any triggers that you can think of that might have started this manic episode? Any major stressors? Sometimes that helps to understand and she can go through talk therapy.
My wife was recently hospitalized for Mania - she was obviously manic and needed help. They started her on a fairly high dose of Geodon. After about 2 weeks, she started hearing voices and became very psychotic. The psychosis (feeling of being possesed, talking to herself, some parinoia) has persisted for the last 7 months. We will be starting to try and wean her off but I am not sure what to expect (will it get worse, will it get better??)
