Just make sure the doctors know that you're taking Nardil, and if possible, have a talk with the anesthesiologist beforehand to assure yourself that he comprehends the gravity of the situation.
Don't stop taking the Nardil for surgery that is imminent, as it takes about 10 days or so for the body to produce new MAO. For elective surgery that is able to be planned out somewhat in advance, yes, MAOIs are often discontinued. However, as with discontinuing any med, this should only be done in consultation with your doctor(s).
